HabitsTime

Habit tracker template

A habit tracker you keep in a spreadsheet: one row per habit, a column for each day of the month and a Total column. It downloads as a CSV file, which opens in Google Sheets and Excel. If you use the online tracker in this browser, you can download this month filled in.

Free · No email · CSV for Google Sheets and Excel

The file is made on this device. No email, no sign-up.

Habits and routines, in your pocket

The habits app is in development. Leave your email and we'll tell you when it's out.

What's in the template

In the blank template, column A is for the habit, columns B to AF are days 1 to 31, and column AG is Total. There are 10 rows for habits. Type an x in a day's cell when you do the habit. The filled version uses only this month's days, so in a month shorter than 31 days its Total column comes earlier; it puts an x on every day you ticked in the online tracker.

Open it in Google Sheets

In Google Sheets, open a spreadsheet, choose File, then Import, and pick the CSV file. Select an import option, then click Import.

Open it in Excel

In Excel, choose File, then Open, choose Text Files in the file type list and pick the CSV file: Excel opens it and shows the data in a new workbook. To choose the delimiter yourself, use Data, then From Text/CSV, and pick it under Delimiter.

When you save a workbook in CSV format, Excel may warn that some features might be lost.

Let the sheet count the days

The Total column is empty, so you choose how it counts. In the blank template, to count the marked days in the first habit row, type =COUNTA(B2:AF2) in its Total cell (AG2), then copy the cell down to the other rows. The filled file ends on this month's last day, so use the formula shown under its download button instead.

In Google Sheets, COUNTA returns the number of values in a range. In Excel, it counts the cells in a range that are not empty.

Other ways to track

On paper

The printable habit tracker prints a month, 30 days or a week on one page, blank or filled from the online tracker.

In the browser

The online habit tracker keeps up to 3 habits on this device and counts total days done, which never resets after a missed day. Its “Export CSV” gives the full history, one row per day done.
